Maeve Meara

Maeve O’Meara is a world-renowned chef and journalist, best known for hosting a range of Food Safari series. These include the original Food Safari, Italian Food Safari, and French Food Safari.

Maeve grew up in Sydney with her younger brother, Matt. She developed an interest in cooking at a young age and began her career a year after she graduated from college. After travelling for a year she found enjoyment in the spontaneity of each day which led her to a career in journalism, first working on the Carleton-Walsh report. In 1990 she began working on Dateline where she was able to rekindle her love of the culinary world. She soon created her company Gourmet Safari which led to the successful Food Safari series.
